Work is performed under minimal supervision Rural Diversion Program Manager and Director of Diversion Programs, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.The CMHG Educator uses a collaborative approach to align and coordinate service within Hockley County Jail for incarcerated individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues and needs. This role assumes responsibility for assigned projects and provides clinical services to those served in the CMHG program through mental health services, reentry, and jail-based competency restoration services when applicable. Services include education services for those served in Jail Based competency restoration incarcerated at Hockley County Jail, support services for those incarcerated with a mental health diagnosis or cooccurring diagnosis, as well as assisting with intake screenings for those booked into Hockley County Jail.Responsibilities:
- Work effectively with CMHG staff, inmates, and outside support agencies as necessary.
- Maintain the confidentiality of consumer information in accordance with StarCare and Hockley County Jail policies.
- Completion of specific duties and responsibilities as designated by the Rural Diversion Program Manager. Designation of duties will be determined by current needs of the consumer population.
- Work closely with the judicial system, county judges and attorneys.
- Provision of crisis intervention services to consumers as referred and deemed appropriate for the caseload. Crisis intervention may require consultation with CMHG and MCOT staff regarding management/treatment concerns, referral, and/or mental health follow-up.
- This position is accountable for the provision of jail-based competency restoration training services through the performance of various client-focused activities.
- Conduct initial intakes for all individuals booked into Hockley County Jail for the purpose of identifying people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and/or substance addiction.
- Weekly Competency training for consumers assigned for competency restoration in the Lubbock County Detention Center in a cooperative effort in mental health/drug court dockets as needed as a link between judicial, law enforcement, mental health/IDD, and other related entities to coordinate positive outcomes for individuals served in outpatient competency restoration.
- Work closely with the judicial system, county judges and attorneys.
Essential Duties:
- Communicate effectively with team members, members of the legal system, and consumers on a regular basis
- Complete and thorough documentation of all training hours provided to consumers.
- Participate in scheduled program trainings and meetings.
- Participate in consults related to competency restoration treatment methods and practices.
Schedule: This is a full-time/exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with additional hours as-needed and flexibility to meet the needs of the department. - Master's Degree in a Human Service related field
- With applicable licensure to include: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC-Associate), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-Associate), Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (Full licensure preferred)
- One (1) year of full-time experience in a related field, preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
