Job DescriptionThe Clinical Coordinator has a dual role. This dual role includes time at the bedside either as a charge nurse or primary nurse in addition to administrative responsibilities. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Manager, assists him/her in the daily management of the unit, in the coordination of patient flow, in assuring appropriate staffing, budget compliance, and in the preparation of performance evaluations. The Clinical Coordinator functions as a clinical expert for the unit, participating in the ongoing professional development of the team members and in the orientation of new team members. The Clinical Coordinator is expected to participate in unit-based and organization-wide committees and task forces, and to make a significant contribution to the unit's performance improvement and patient safety initiatives

Work Orientation & Experience:
The Clinical Coordinator has a minimum of three years of recent nursing experience in appropriate specialty setting; including one (1) year Charge Nurse experience. Proven clinical competence and proficiency in the area of specialty is required.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) convey effective verbal and written communications; b) utilize basic assessment and critical thinking skills; c) organize and manage time effectively setting appropriate priorities; d) make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures and nursing standards; e) successfully complete standardized dosage exam; f) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; g) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; h) respond to emergency situations appropriately, and i) adhere to standards of behavior and support Culture of Excellence.
