The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Sr. Clinical Care Manager and General Dermatologist, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator III, RN is responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care across two faculty practice sites and four divisions, including hospital-sponsored teaching clinic. In addition to primary responsibilities within the division of Dermatologic Surgery, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator III, RN will be expected to assist as reasonably needed in other divisions within the department of dermatology, including Oncology.The experienced Clinical Coordinator III (Registered Nurse III) duties will include, but are not limited to, coordinating patient care; assisting in all procedures; developing a nurse-patient/family relationship; and assessing and managing patients within all patient age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics. The Clinical Coordinator III (Registered Nurse III) will participate in or lead health initiatives within the department/unit to address health care gaps and promote positive health outcomes for patients. At this senior level, the Clinical Coordinator III (Registered Nurse III) may be asked to travel to site locations to train staff or review processes with staff, providers, and managers.ResponsibilitiesAssesses and collects data related to patient health status an inputs this medical information into the EMR as instructed by the physicianWorks with the care team to develop the plan and care across the continuum (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, home, skilled nursing facility, schools) which includes assisting with medication management (e.g. medication renewals) inclusive of medical prior authorizations as needed. Administer immunizations and medications.Executes nursing interventions by collaborating with the care team and following standards of care established by the unit/department.Assumes responsibility and accountability for effectively managing nursing care of individual patients.Supports on-going clincal functions of the service to provide compassionate patient-centered care.Handle telephone, My Chart and in-person triage (for symptom management) as well as patient education.Assist with management of urgent and emergent patient situations.Coordinates multidisciplinary health care services and arranges diagnostic tests (i.e. lab, x-ray) as ordered by physicians and performs diagnostic testing, therapeutic, and interventional procedures as needed.Review and act on test results (lab, x-ray).Review and manage communications from internal and external customers inclusive of inbasket messages, updating immunizations, updating health maintenance items.Ensures infection control compliance within the practice.Addresses appropriate measures to provide patient and family satisfaction.May float to other clinics based on operations needs.May establish standard clinical supply storage in collaboration with other clinical staff and audit that standards are being maintained. Establish standard protocols for medication/immunization inventory management and storage.Serve on relevant committees, task forces, and workgroup within the department.Reports to supervising Physician. Surgical procedures including local anesthesia, punch, shave, suture removal, wound care.Derm medical procedures including phototherapy (able to prescribe and adjust use for both clinic and home use), Unna bootOther duties will include ordering appropriate laboratory supplies and following up on results, answering pre- and post-operative questions, gathering data, and acting as a liaison.The clinical nurse will also be administering extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) treatments to patients with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma (CTCL) using the Therakos Cellex Photopheresis System:Administer methoxsalen and monitor photoactivation times, ensuring accurate and safe delivery of treatment. Operate the Therakos Cellex Photopheresis System according to established protocols.Load and prime the photopheresis machine with the appropriate procedural kits and solutions.Monitor and adjust treatment parameters, including flow rates and fluid balance, based on patient-specific needsClinical trial coordination:Collaborate with the clinical trials team to identify eligible patients and enroll them in ongoing ECP-related trials.Administer treatments in accordance with clinical trial protocols, ensuring adherence to study guidelines.Collect, document, and report data related to clinical trial participation, including patient responses and any adverse events.Coordinate with research teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of trial-related procedures and documentation.Schedule and coordinate ECP treatments, ensuring timely and efficient care for all CTCL patients.Liaise with the interdisciplinary team, including dermatologists, hematologists, and clinical trial coordinators, to provide comprehensive patient careParticipate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in photopheresis and CTCL care including, attending conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay informed about advancements in ECP technology and treatment protocols.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.Minimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience; 4 years or more of related experienceClinical rotation experience associated with BSN degree programs will be applied toward related experience requirementsBLS certified.Current New York State RN License.Preferred QualificationsGeneral Dermatology and photopheresis or Hematology/Oncology experience strongly preferred.ACLS Certification.Other RequirementsMust successfully complete systems training requirements.Ability to work indoors in an environmentally-controlled environment with a degree of dust, noise, odors, etc., without undue discomfort.Ability to perform sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing for long periods of time.Travel between clinical sites may be required depending on need.Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, bodily fluid, and tissue.Knowledge of medical safety practices and ability to evaluate existing standards and implement new policies and procedures.knowledge of current clinical best practices and clinical state-of-the-art procedures; and knowledge of organizational policies regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills (Allscripts electronic medical record, Microsoft Office).Ability to identify problems, research and recommend solutions, develop, and maintain quality systems, and exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and independent decision-making.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.Capability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranColumbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.#J-18808-Ljbffr
