Academic Hourly Clinical Counselor Counseling Center The University of IllinoisCounseling Center is hiring one or more hourly clinical counselors to provideclinical assessment, counseling, and triage for individual clients. Thesuccessful candidate will join an energetic, diverse team of nearly 50 staffincluding 29 clinicians, 4 pre-doctoral interns, 6 counseling center professionalstaff, 7 administrative staff, as well as a team of undergraduateparaprofessionals and masters level practicum counselors. The Counseling Center is alsoan APA approved pre-doctoral internship site. Job Summary Primary job duties are toprovide clinical assessments and counseling for individuals and couples; inaddition, may provide group counseling and/or emergency triage services asneeded. The clinical counselor at times may provide clinical supervision of practicumstudents and other new staff (when appropriate and depending on need);participate in treatment teams, liaison groups, and outreach activities (asneeded); and other duties as assigned. Seeking candidates who are available forat least one full-day (7-8 hours) shift per week. Duties & Responsibilities Provide time-limited counseling services for individuals and couples Conduct initial intakes and assessments Manage clinical crises and triage services Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response Provide group counseling services through a general therapy group or a group that addresses a specific clinical issue or the needs of a particular population of students Other duties as assigned Additional Physical Demands Typical office environment Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Masters in Social Work or Counseling required. Must currently possess appropriate professional licensure in Illinois: Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Appointment Information Generally, this position willbe a minimum of 9 months, (within the academic calendar schedule) to provideadequate continuity. This position may last for a longer period of time bymutual consent of the incumbent and the Center. This position will be reviewedwith option to renew contract on an annual basis. The work hours will varydepending on need and candidate availability. Weekly schedule will be 1-3days/week. Percent time may increase at a later date. The Counseling Centerhours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and from 8 a.m.to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Proposed start date is as soon aspossible. The previously determined hourly rate of pay for this position is $45-50/hour dependent on qualifications; paid for full shift regardless of numberof client meetings.
