DescriptionSummary:The Registered Dietician position is responsible for assessment of WIC participant's nutritional status, recommending nutritional changes or improvements to advance the participants growth and development. The Registered Dietician is responsible to conduct, monitor and evaluate WIC Associate performance and compliance with WIC Policy and Procedures through a QA/PI program that evaluates documentation requirements, performance requirements and assessment of knowledge of job functions. The Registered Dietician assesses the nutritional status of pregnant women with diabetes and or other high risk categories, such as morbid obesity, teen pregnancy, etc. The Registered Dietician also provides consultation for WIC participants with special dietary needs may conduct breastfeeding education and assesses WIC Associates' training needs through observation, record audit and as needed to identify training needs of Associates. Responsibilities:Develops and implements a quality assurance program.Provides high-risk counseling.Teaches staff Associates how to conduct facilitated discussion in nutrition education classes.Consults regarding the appropriate issuance of special formulas.Assists with the Quality Assurance Program (i.e., ongoing evaluation of individual counseling, nutrition education classes, clinical procedures, etc.).Develops and provides staff training on nutrition-related topics and nutrition assessment procedures.Assists with the implementation of Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA).Refers clients determined to be in need of medical/social follow-up.Assists with completion and application of the Nutrition Education, Breastfeeding and Training Plan.Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.Appropriately adapts assigned patient care assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served.Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of Santa Rosa Health Care.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:Education/SkillsBachelor's degree in nutrition from an accredited college or university is required.Minimum of twenty four (24) hours nutrition education required. Evidence of successful completion of clinical internship in dietetics is required. Master's degree preferred.Experience Must be able to provide appropriate nutrition intervention for the different stages of the life cycle: pediatric, adolescents, adult, and geriatric.One (1) year of experience in the area of nutrition education is required.Licenses, Registrations, or CertificationsA valid Class A driver's license and current automobile insurance is required.Proof of licensure as an RD (Registered Dietitian) requiredWork Type: Full TimeEEO is the law - click below for more information: We endeavor to make this site accessible to any and all users.
