The Clinical Dietitian:
Provides quality medical nutrition therapy to a variety of patients, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, education, and monitoring. Communicates effectively with other health care professionals. Serves as preceptor/mentor for dietetic interns and department staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
Oncology nutrition services are provided at KH Cancer Care locations by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The Dietitian is a part of the multidisciplinary team who is responsible for assessment and implementation of Nutrition therapy and education of oncology outpatients who are receiving treatment for a cancer diagnosis. The dietitians also are qualified to discuss diet, nutrition, and lifestyle recommendations for survivorship, health promotion and disease prevention.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelors or Masters degree from Didactic Program in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field.
Dietetic Internship or Pre-professional Practice Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Work Experience
1-2 years clinical nutrition experience in acute care inpatient or an oncology setting, preferred
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) or Registry Eligible with successful registration within 6 months of employment.
Cancer Oncology Specialist (COS) preferred
Ohio Licensure through the Ohio Medical Board, temporary or permanent as a Dietitian/ Nutritionist (prior to first day of employment)

Skills
Knowledge of nutrition and hydration requirements and recommendations throughout the continuum of care, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care.
Teamwork and collaboration: Ability to work with all oncology staff (ie physicians, APPs, social workers, therapists, clinic and infusion nurses, Navigators, etc) in surgical, medical, and radiation oncology departments
Good communication skills: writing skills, computer skills, phone skills and education skills
Nutrition support skills
Essential Functions
Screening and nutrition assessment using Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for oncology patients regarding risk for malnutrition and other nutrition-related concerns
Assessment, management and coordination of tube feeds and oral nutrition supplements
Participates in multidisciplinary cancer conferences
Nutrition counseling and education for families, patients and staff
Travel may be required to various KH Cancer Care locations
Participate in training and job shadow experiences of students, staff, and interns

Teach/lead in-services, classes or support group nutrition-related topics for staff, patients and family members
Serve as the RDN representative or designated alternate on Network Cancer Committee and for American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation of the KH Integrated Network Cancer Program (INCP)
