Job Summary

As a Clinical Educator Registered Nurse specializing in Paramedic education, you will play a crucial role in the training and development of paramedics. You will design and implement educational programs, provide mentorship and guidance, and evaluate clinical competence to ensure paramedics are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide excellent patient care in pre-hospital settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive educational programs for paramedics, covering a wide range of topics, including emergency medical procedures, patient assessment, trauma care, and critical care transport.
    • Utilize various teaching methodologies, such as lectures, simulations, and hands-on training, to enhance learning and retention.
    • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in paramedicine and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  • Clinical Skills Training and Evaluation:
    • Provide hands-on clinical training to paramedics, ensuring they develop proficiency in essential skills, such as airway management, intravenous therapy, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring.
    • Conduct regular competency assessments to evaluate paramedics' clinical skills and knowledge.
    • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help paramedics improve their performance.
  • Mentorship and Support:
    • Serve as a mentor and role model for paramedics, providing guidance and support as they transition into practice.
    • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment where paramedics feel comfortable asking questions and seeking assistance.
    • Assist paramedics in developing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and EMS personnel, to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with paramedics, providing timely feedback and updates.
  • Program Evaluation and Improvement:
    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
    • Collect and analyze data on paramedic performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the paramedic program.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience: 4 years of RN experience, including Flight RN or Pre-Hospital RN experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • RN Licensure in the State of Idaho.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through the American Heart Association or client.
