Overview:

The Clinical Informaticist will apply the science of informatics and be responsible for bridging the gap between clinical practice and information technology across various healthcare settings, including hospital, skilled nursing, and community health centers. This position involves optimizing the use of electronic health records (EHR) and other clinical information systems to enhance patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Clinical Informaticist will serve as a liaison between clinicians and IT professionals to facilitate a common understanding of clinical standards and process improvement activities across multidisciplinary teams throughout the lifecycle of clinical systems implementations and optimization activities.

Responsibilities:

Informatics Systems and Training

  • Integrates clinical knowledge and informatics expertise to successfully integrate technology into clinical workflow, optimizing the EHR experience and promoting end-user adoption across various settings, including hospital, ambulatory, and skilled nursing settings.
  • Responsible for regularly providing suggestions and seeking feedback from healthcare providers, clinicians, and operations regarding the EHR.
  • Utilize data to drive and standardize processes, workflow, and behavior change as it relates to appropriate and efficient use.
  • Support continuous education for clinical staff and end users to enhance proficiency in using health information technologies.
  • Maintain responsibility for the full systems development lifecycle, including project planning and initiation, requirements analysis, system design and development, system testing, user training, system implementation, operations, and maintenance.

Data Management, Analysis and Reporting

  • Supports the designs of analytic systems, dashboards, and reports and the use of data to enhance clinical and operational performance
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical data to identify trends and areas for improvement and support decision-making.
  • Responsibility for data validation to improve clinical quality and operational outcomes for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County and the ability to communicate concretely with all key stakeholders when data does not appear accurate.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operations, quality, and patient safety.
  • Automate reports on service area metrics for various departments
  • Lead initiative to transition manual data collection methods to electronic formats, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate and facilitate communication with multidisciplinary and leadership teams and external partners in identifying informatics needs for their departments.
  • Collaborate with Quality Department and Business Intelligence Department to assess and develop data and reporting needs.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address informatics-related challenges.
  • Facilitate strategies to increase patient engagement to our patient portals
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in health informatics and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent including but not limited to: working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, performing other emergency duties responding to threats or disasters, man-made or natural as required.
Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Informatics. Masters Degree in same preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years experience in multiple clinical settings; including, history of collaborative working relations with multiple healthcare disciplines (hospital, skilled nursing facility and ambulatory) managing IT related clinical projects and an understanding of clinical workflows required. Proficiency with Epic EHR preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and health information management.

Certification:

Epic certification is preferred. Certification in Health Informatics (e.g., CPHIMS, CAHIMS) or Clinical Informatics (e.g., ANCC) is preferred.

Licensure:

Florida State License as a Registered Nurse. Valid Florida Drivers License.

Training:

Leadership and health care management training is preferred.
