Hourly rate, non-exempt, non-union.SCOPE: Responsible for the support of clinical information systems, for understanding the needs and opportunities nurses and medical providers have with technology. Responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating education for computer applications and software for all user groups. Develops and trains all user groups in clinical computer applications and documentation processes. Serves as a resource for the daily operative issues of the hospital's clinical systems application. Provides input to management regarding education needs of end users.JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts and facilitates computer applications training.Provides computer orientation training and Information Systems updates.Assesses, plans, develops, implements and evaluates employee and departmental educational programs for staff.Conducts annual educational needs survey.Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of Information Systems.Establishes and maintains close working relationships with IS Director and support staff.Maintains attendance records for education sessions.Maintains a close working relationship with nursing staff and medical providers as a daily resource for IS technical support.Speaks clearly with the management and Information Systems teams to assess goals and progress towards those goals for the electronic medical record.Serves as an educator and resource to medical staff and ancillary personnel.Working with the Quality Department performs infection control data collection as well as participate/lead IT related quality improvement projects.Leads software upgrade projects and tests updates prior to upgrades.Maintains updates of software programs which are managed at the local level.Collaborates with leaders of other departments to ensure required updates are completed in the computer software programs utilized by the facility.Quality ImprovementActively participates in the Hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program, actively supports and implements Department-specific Quality improvement initiatives and projects, recommends process improvement as appropriate, reports any quality issues in service delivery and consistently commits to a focus on quality improvement and organizational excellence.As an employee of Penobscot Valley Hospital, the position has an inherent role to care for our community members when in need. To this regard, the incumbent will be expected to participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and drills as requested. When called upon during a real-life disaster/emergency event, the incumbent will be expected to participate in the Hospital's response to this event, within the scope of professional and personal ability to do so. RequirementsMinimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field with at least two years of experience. Must possess the ability to problem solve; critical thinking skills, have effective verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience with computer systems. Willingness to continually gain and improve computer skills.
