30667639*Overview*The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting candidates to be trained in a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). This 4-semester training program will begin in the Fall of 2024. Dartmouth-Hitchcock has partnered with Weber State University to offer an associate's degree program. Some previous college coursework is required, though a degree is not. Individuals who have already earned a degree in any field are also encouraged to apply. All program coursework is completed online while lab experiences are completed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock laboratory facilities in Lebanon, NH. *Responsibilities** Learns to perform the full range of procedures to perform laboratory tests.* Learns to identify when sample, instrument, and/or procedural problems exist.* Recognizes critical test results and execute appropriate notification protocol. * Attends online courses and maintains satisfactory academic progress.* Required to exhibit proficiency of laboratory techniques and pass competency exams.* Learns to operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of lab equipment.* Maintains a clean and safe work environment.* Learns to identify and report safety issues.* Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting.* Participates in laboratory improvement projects.* Performs other duties as required or assigned.*Qualifications** College-level coursework in General Studies, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Chemistry required.* Experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Phlebotomist preferred.* Eligible for acceptance into an MLT Associate's Degree program.*Required Licensure/Certifications*At the end of the training period, take and pass the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) exam.* *Area of Interest:* Allied Health;* *FTE/Hours per pay period:* .01 hrs/per week (per diem/temp);* *Shift:* Day;* *Job ID:* 13942;Dartmouth Health is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
