Overview The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting candidates to be trained in a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). This 4-semester training program will begin in the Fall of 2024.Dartmouth-Hitchcock has partnered with Weber State University to offer an associate's degree program. Some previous college coursework is required, though a degree is not. Individuals who have already earned a degree in any field are also encouraged to apply. All program coursework is completed online while lab experiences are completed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock laboratory facilities in Lebanon, NH. Responsibilities Learns to perform the full range of procedures to perform laboratory tests. Learns to identify when sample, instrument, and/or procedural problems exist. Recognizes critical test results and execute appropriate notification protocol. Attends online courses and maintains satisfactory academic progress. Required to exhibit proficiency of laboratory techniques and pass competency exams. Learns to operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of lab equipment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Learns to identify and report safety issues. Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting. Participates in laboratory improvement projects. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications College-level coursework in General Studies, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Chemistry required. Experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Phlebotomist preferred. Eligible for acceptance into an MLT Associate's Degree program.
