Assist the social work staff in the decision-making process as it relates to medical and health issues of children in DCF's care. Provide nursing consultation to Investigation staff on alleged child abuse and neglect investigations. Ensuring children with complex medical needs have access to community based services and supports and their health needs are met. Participates in home visitations with social work staff as indicated. Attends physician appointments and hospital visits as needed. Participates in the development of the health component of children's case plans. Work collaboratively with community based healthcare providers in facilitating care and addressing the health needs of children in DCF's care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of professional nursing experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED A Bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience. A Master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in settings that care for children and youth with complex medical needs. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license as a registered nurse in Connecticut. Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
