In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONSContinuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs). ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONSIndoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians. HAZARDS OSHA~ OSHA Category 1.Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials. Completes the Intraoperative record (including implants / allografts, cell saver, medication and expendable supplies as applicable). Documents assessment and nursing actions based on physiological changes of the patient during surgery.Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Performance of Surgical Counts.Adheres to surgical counts as per HSS established policy and procedure. Initiates corrective actions when the count is incorrect.Promotes Environment of Care/Infection Control - Complies with Infection Control policies & procedures.Complies with policies and procedures concerning infection control and safety in order to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. Maintains traffic patterns in the operating room.Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Time Out.Verifies procedure, surgical site and laterality using the “Time Out” process to confirm the correct patient and correct site prior to anesthesia and incision.Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Positioning and body alignment.Assesses positioning and body alignment starting from head to toe to ensure safety in positioning and correct use of assistive devices to maintain positioning during the surgical procedure.Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Acts as charge nurse.Assumes Charge Nurse functions as determined by the PCD/ Manager, including assessing staffing needs, organizing and delegating work assignments based on patient acuity and individual staff skill levels.Participates in Education - Preceptor role.Acts as a preceptor for orientees as determined by the PCD/ Manager. Works in conjunction with the Professional Development team to ensure the orientee meets the orientation requirements. EDUCATION REQUIREDBachelors, Nursing. Newly hired registered nurses must have completed BSN. EDUCATION PREFERREDCertifications/Licensure RequiredRegistered Nurse License, New York. BLS. ACLS. Experienced nurses must have American Heart Association BLS and ACLS upon hire date; new graduates and transfers must obtain this by completion of the 6 month HR probationary period. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE PREFERREDSpecialty Certification Recognized By ANCC. SKILLS REQUIREDDemonstrate competency in the use of the Nursing Process.
