POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical nurse manager, as part of the Nursing Management and Leadership Team, is responsible for overall operations, and clinical care specifically designated Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) clinical site. The clinical nurse manager serves as the surgical abortion service and sexual reproductive services clinical lead for the Manhattan Center. The clinical manager is the on- site point person for staff and clients at the Manhattan Health Center. The Clinical nurse manager collaborates with the health center managers/ operations designee to oversee day to day management of the clinical site. The Clinical nurse manger is responsible for practice, education, professional development, recruitment, and retention within the clinical site.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory and Administrative (70%)

1. In collaboration with the Regional Director of Nursing, manages nursing and clinical staff in the Manhattan based procedural abortion services and sexual reproductive health services.

2. In collaboration with the Regional Director of Nursing, Medical and Operations leadership teams; develops and implements strategies to enhance clinic efficiency while preserving high-quality patient-centered care.

3. Develops staffing plans and manages nursing and clinical staff schedules, including PTO and coverage for call outs to assure safe staffing.

4. Actively participates in nurse recruitment and onboarding; conducts regular performance evaluations develops performance improvement and corrective action plans as needed.

5. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Medical and Operations leadership, participates in the development and updating of PPGNY policies and procedures related to nursing staff and procedural abortion care and sexual reproductive services.

6. Directs the functions of the nursing department in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory authorities (i.e., DOH, Article 28, etc.,)

7. Monitors annual capital and operating budget for nursing department expenses on designated schedule.

8. Oversees stocking and preparation of procedural abortion space and clinic spaces, assuring adequate equipment and supplies at par levels.

9. Supports and implements standards in alignment with 1199 union collective bargaining agreement.

10. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.

11. Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.

12. Involved in performance improvement process, including data collection and analysis, and process improvement activities specifically Nursing/Clinical quality indicators.

13. Communicates directly with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and services, promote participation in care plans, and maintain a high quality of care.

14. Attends and participates in required leadership meetings.

15. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and directs staff in the event of a medical emergency or evacuation.

16. Maybe required to work in the clinical setting during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies, as needed.

17. Maybe required to be on call during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies, as needed.

18. Ensures that care provided in the NYC-based procedural abortion services follows the PPGNY Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines and is compliant with PPGNY policies and procedures and NYS and NYC regulations.

19. Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, ADA, and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA.

Direct Clinical Care (10%)

20. Assists with direct nursing care responsibilities during high flow work times. Provides direct patient care, as needed.

Training and Education (20%)

21. In conjunction with Director of Nursing, Operations and Medical leadership, develops and implements onboarding and training plan for new hires and documents Personal Orientation Plan (POP) sign-off for new hires.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Related Capability Requirements: Requires satisfactory completion of courses required for graduation from an accredited college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree, plus NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience Related Capability Requirements: Requires previous experience of a minimum of 2-5 years in a nursing supervisor or leadership role. Must have Women's Health/Maternal Child clinical background. demonstrate strong customer service skills as they relate to patient care and overall communication. Requires computer proficiency. Excellent communication skills, independent judgment and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Licensures/Certifications: Current NYS Nurses License. Current BLS certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This job operates in a clinical office setting. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment.
  • Requires sitting/standing for long periods of time. Periodic walking, bending. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others.

$130,000 - $140,000 a year
