Job DescriptionAt NorthBay Health the Clinical Nurse Specialist Coordinator, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (CNSC, NICU) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who coordinates the clinical and educational resources and care standards for the neonatal and pediatric critical care level patient population with a focus on neuro-surgical and critical care. The CNSC, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's role, along with other members of the patient care services team, is to promote the provision of effective, high quality patient care to all patients. This CNSC, NICU participates in the development of evidence based care delivery systems and clinical practice programs. The following responsibilities are included: oversight of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, fostering of interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships and is accountable for bringing innovative ideas from and to the bedside. He/she will coordinate and provide educational programs for staff which are pertinent to the patient population served, such as patient safety initiatives, pain management strategies, telemetry competency, advanced care planning including proactive discharge planning and other pertinent areas of nursing practice. The CNSC, NICU works collaboratively with the Advance Practice Nurses, Learning and Leadership Team members, and nursing leaders to develop and validate the clinical competency of staff. This CNSC, NICU works with physicians in order to establish a collegial and interdisciplinary patient care environment. The CNSC, NICU is an independent consultant on clinical care issues for patients, families, staff, physicians and other departments. The CNSC, NICU will be responsible for facilitating and managing patient care services division special projects as assigned.QualificationsEducation:
- Master's degree in Nursing required.
- MSN major in clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse leader, education, or related health care field required.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current California RN License required.
- Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from a nationally recognized accrediting organization within 1 year of hire.
- Certification by the National Certification Corporation (NCC) required.
- Current AHA or equivalent BLS
- Current NRP certification required.
- Current Clinical Nurse Specialist certification is required.
Experience:
- Working knowledge of health care practices, patient care equipment and products required.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing care, at least one of which has been in a facility with a NICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU.
- Minimum 3 years of education or clinical specialist experience with increasing scope of responsibility preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Possesses instructional ability, leadership ability, and high professional standards.
- Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently and is an effective team member.
- Word Processing skills required.
- Statistical/data management skills preferred.
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing patient care based on age-related needs.
- Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patient in the following age groups: Neonatal and Pediatric.
Compensation:
- Hourly Salary Range Min $80.22 - Max $96.84 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
