Main tasks
Clinical Pharmacist
The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Specialist specializing in chemotherapy manages chemotherapy review and compounding with the support of the Oncology physician(s), faculty and house staff physicians, pharmacists. As required, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Specialist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacists processes orders for chemotherapy medications, monitor patients' drug therapies and provide drug information. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacists supervises and directs supportive staff. In addition, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care services to include advising physicians on matters pertaining to drug usage and control within assigned hospital locations; participate in the development and delivery of continuing education programs for Pharmacy, Patient Care Services, Medical staff and students.

QualificationsEducation/Qualification
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) required
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice in the District of Columbia
Completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency (or equivalent) (preferred)
Completed a specialized clinical residency/fellowship in Oncology (preferred)
BPS Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (preferred)
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis Reports (i.e., optimization, load/unload, nursing narcotic access, etc.)
Ability to use Cerner, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
Some travel, to follow-up with Corporate, Financial, GPO, Compliance and Pyxis issues.
