Job Summary

Example of Essential Functions:
* The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist works to monitor and optimize medication use and assure safe and cost-effective therapy through Drug Utilization Evaluation (DUE), therapeutic and adverse drug occurrence monitoring, kinetic drug dosing, providing drug information and education of and interaction with the medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
* S/He demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric population.
* The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist develops a specialized clinical pharmacy practice in a designated area (i.e., nutrition, ED, critical care, oncology, anticoagulation, infectious disease, ambulatory clinic, NICU/Peds).
* The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist also serves as a preceptor/mentor for pharmacy technicians, students and residents.
* Performs and maintains competency in pharmacist and clinical pharmacist job description.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Position requires ability to demonstrate sound professional judgment. Ability and initiative to assume responsibility for patient's drug therapy. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with Pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses and patients. Ability to lead staff pharmacists and work with them. Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
* Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* Maryland Pharmacist license or eligible to reciprocate required.
* For specific specialties, certifications as follows:
o Nutrition- Clinical certification within three years, required.
o Emergency Department- Clinical certification within three years, required. BLS, ACLS and PALS within one year required.
o Critical Care- Clinical certification within three years, required. BLS and ACLS within one year required.
o Oncology- Oncology certification within three years, required. BLS and ACLS within one year required.
o Anticoagulation- Anticoagulation certification within three years, required.
o Infectious Disease- Clinical certification within three years, required.
o Ambulatory Clinic- Clinical certification within three years, required.
o NICU/Peds- Clinical certification within three years or PGY-1 residency required. BLS and PALS within one year required.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of Clinical experience is required.

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

Physical Demands:
Light Work - Lifting up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes and/or carrying up to 10 pounds, or requiring walking or standing to a significant degree (about six [6] hours a day).

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.
Hourly range: $101,400 - $154,065
