UOVUNIUSR0066124EXTERNALENUSThe Clinical Program Coordinator is responsible for co-leading the performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) activities of injury care from the pre-hospital phase through rehabilitation. The coordinator under the guidance of and in collaboration with trauma program leaders and trauma liaisons has the responsibility to assess, plan, implement and re-evaluate care to the injured and to report on such activities during re-verification visits activities. This individual leads and manages a systematic and coordinated approach to quality measurement and improvement initiatives impacting core clinical processes and critical patient care functions as it relates to the injured using Virginia Trauma and the American College of Surgeons documents and standards, as well as addressing related institutional specific improvement needs.* Collaborates with and assists the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) such as State and national (American College of Surgeons) trauma center site visit tri-annual pre and post visit submission documents as it relates to PIPS* Presents PIPS plan, documents and participates in discussions during reverification visits* Maintains PIPS documents, such as the master tracker, patient review forms* Organizes and follows thru on tasks associated with PIPS loop closure* Leads weekly “working” PIPS meetings, with agenda circulated prior to the meetings* Creates clinical care timelines as a component of patient care review* Facilitates & documents loop closure* Contributes to Be Safe & A3 activities* Facilitates PIPS related education, including signage.* Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews* Identifies trends and sentinel events* Leads trauma manual guideline review, revisions and subsequent communications.* Identifies events, collaboratively develops corrective action plans, provides monitoring and reevaluation.* Conducts primary reviews of cases and participates in subsequent levels of review* Organize and support workgroups through planning, facilitation, task execution, and/or communication support.* Introduction of new protocols and procedures,* Assist workgroups with content and research support* Models effective communication and collaboration skills/behaviors* Contributes to the development of guidelines, reviews and revises based on current literature and evidence* Prepares the agenda, presentation and reviews quality data monthly at the trauma multi-disciplinary meetings (MDPI)* Observes Alpha trauma alerts, when feasible, for the purpose of PIPS activities.* Participates in trauma service rounds weekly, for the purpose of personal education and PIPS activities.* Leads weekly Alpha & Death reviews at trauma service conference (Friday conference)* Serves as a trauma expert to support nursing and other team members response to care of the injured* Provides direct clinical care during trauma alert unstable extreme situations to assist nursing team members* Provides direct support to the trauma service multi-casualty incident response, per the trauma program MCI plan* Participates in injury prevention activitiesPosition Compensation Range: $76,398.40 - $122,241.60 AnnualMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 4 years of hire.Experience: Emergency / critical care nursing experience, preferably in an academic Level I or II trauma center setting. Extensive performance improvement experience preferred.Licensure: Must be a registered nurse and currently licensed to practice in the State of Virginia. Certified Registered Trauma Nurse (CTRN) certification preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
