It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to this job.Other information:*Job Summary*The Clinical Quality Assurance Specialist plans and evaluates multidisciplinary, process improvements relating to quality of clinical care/practice/service at Skagit Regional Health, an integrated healthcare system. Serves as a consultant on regulatory standards. Responsible for monitoring trends and recommending further assessment, policy and/or procedure changes with the primary goal of improving care and patient outcomes utilizing a clinical knowledge base.*Essential Functions*Effectively serves as a consultant to Skagit Regional Health on regulatory requirements. Monitors trends and participates in the determination of need for further assessment and improvement. Advise and assist in the development and implementation of new procedures, programs and teams assuring quality care and effective utilization of organization resources. Utilizes data analysis techniques to appraise, interpret and assess current operations and projects. Effectively manage projects to ensure timely and accurate completion. Maintains focus on the expected outcomes. Communicates barriers to key stakeholders, ensuring effective time management to build consensus and identify and address potential obstacles. Demonstrate leadership abilities in collaborating with health care team(s). Analyzes and utilizes feedback to improve processes. Communicates clearly regarding opportunities relating to utilization, quality and risk management. Prepares and presents educational programs to health care team(s) and management as needed. Ensure guidelines are maintained with current documentation. Collects outcomes data and communicates to key stakeholders. Recommends policy and procedure changes to improve care and patient outcomes. Maintains and enhances a variety of databases, statistics and reports. Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.*Education*Nursing degree required. BSN preferred.*Experience/Training*Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Prior experience in quality assessment and improvement work preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.*License/Certifications*Current Washington State RN License required. CPHQ preferred. *Other Skills*Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of CQI/analytical tools and regulatory requirements desired. Ability to work independently, problem solve and set appropriate priorities in a complex environment with competing priorities. Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and elicit cooperation across the organization. Ability to facilitate group processes and gain consensus from medical staff and other health care professionals. Proficient computer skills required to include Microsoft Office and database management, statistics and reports.*Physical Demands and Work Environment*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office.
