The Clinical Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership for the building and/or individual Service Line. You will be responsible for ensuring patient care is supported by competent staff in an ambulatory setting. Working closely with the VP of Nursing and Service Line leadership, you will ensure patient safety standards are upheld. You are the liaison for physicians, advanced practice clinicians and clinical staff to ensure that standard work is upheld, and a supportive staff skill mix is available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meets daily with the Nursing Supervisor to ensure staffing and skill mix are adequate to support patient care
  • Reviews skill mix and collaborates with senior leaders to ensure the skill mix supports patient care
  • Gathers focused feedback during daily rounds with physicians and APC's on staff performance, patient care and workflow standards
  • Gathers input from staff, patients and families on ways to improve patient care and organizational services
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Operations to ensure optimal physician/APC support and efficient office operation
  • Encourages problem solving and continuous quality improvement in collaboration with all members of the clinical teams
  • Reviews staff clinical competency for accuracy and ensures clinical staff are proficient in their skills
  • Communicates information effectively during monthly staff meetings and during interaction with other members of the leadership team
  • Leads small and large-scale change, being sensitive to organizational culture, core values and the perspectives of the employees
  • Acts as a coach and mentor to the Nursing Supervisor, Team Leaders, Lead Clinical Preceptors and clinical staff
  • Initiates and/or leads practice performance improvement and innovation projects
  • Interviews candidates and makes hiring decisions
  • Monitors and manages expenses within department to include; regular and overtime staff hours, appropriate approval of education and travel expenditures, equipment and supplies and specific departmental expenditures. Develops and monitors annual operational and capital budgets for area of responsibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered Nurse licensed to practice in New York State (NYS) with current NYS registration and in good standing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current BLS certification
  • 3+ years of leadership experience

New York Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
