HOURLY RANGE:$42.300 - $57.147 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves providing direct patient care and acting as a resource Registered Nurse to promote and maintain quality patient care in an assigned area at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent serves as a positive role model in demonstrating nursing practices to ensure the best patient care and promote high quality customer service for patients and visitors. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-ranking professional nurse of the assigned area(s). Supervision is exercised over professional, paraprofessional and support personnel. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Facilitates professional nursing practices that support the delivery of quality care; Promotes and supports an exceptional patient experience; Serves as a clinical resource person and role model to other staff; Provides nursing care at all points of the continuum of care as needed, of which includes completion of at least sixteen (16) hours of monthly clinical nursing; Evaluates the effectiveness of the care provided; Precepts new nursing staff as assigned and completes associated paperwork as required; Participates and ensures the maintenance of safety standards for staff, patients and visitors; Participates in quality improvement initiatives as directed; Assists in staff development and education through in-services, trainings, staying current on regulatory compliance matters, and performing clinical competency assessments of staff and completing associated paperwork; Assists in maintaining nursing web page and participates in development of nursing newsletter; Participates in and may organize/lead staff meetings. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Through knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques and terminology of professional nursing for assigned unit; good knowledge of methods used in biological, physical and social theories as they relate to nursing care; ability to work well in crisis situations; ability to evaluate nursing care; ability to train others; ability to prepare and maintain personnel and activity reports and records; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; ability to utilize a variety of electronic software applications; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
