Meet the team: This position is responsible for delivering clinical education to healthcare professionals (HCPs) within the Kaiser integrated health network regarding the treatment of diabetes, medical device product training, CGM category updates, pertinent clinical studies, use of CGM as a management tool and standard of care for diabetes. This position will provide clinical and education leadership to the Field Sales Team and National Account Executive regarding the clinical education and support of people using CGM technology. This position will be a liaison between Field Sales, Managed Markets, Clinical Education, and HCPs regarding the training and educational tools needed for CGM in all arenas (consumers, CDCES, physician, NP, PA, pharmacist, RDN, RN, distributor, and others) and be an integral part of the development of key clinical messaging to these groups of clients. This position will support the development and maintenance of local, regional and national clinical education programs as well as CGM advocacy among HCPs and medical societies with the intent to broader medical connections within Kaiser. The educational programming developed and delivered in this role will aim to increase the number of new CGM prescribers, increase Dexcom's market penetration and enhance distributor education and pull through. This position will support the execution of clinical education, field sales, managed markets, and market strategy. This position will suppor tthe development and expansion of awareness, education, training, and adoption of CGM among all people living with diabetes in the Kaiser system.
Where you come in: Educational Content and Materials: - You will work collaboratively as part of a cross functional team, develop and support peer to peer partnerships and relationships with health care providers, health systems, distributors, etc. with a primary focus on Kaiser to successfully execute assigned initiatives. Role has a capacity to expand to include other states.
- With a strategic mindset, you will develop and implement new and ongoing educational scientific presentations both face to face and virtual for physicians, NPs, PAs, CDCESs, pharmacists, RDN, RN, distributor, etc. with clinical messaging of the Dexcom Portfolio on a weekly basis.
- You will provide leadership and support for HCP education and training regarding all aspects of CGM - product launch, product training, clinical application, CGM interpretation, etc.
- You will effectively manage region by working collaboratively in establishing regular touchpoints (meetings, calls, webinars, etc.) and developing long-standing partnerships with statewide health systems and clinical health care providers to enhance product and disease state knowledge.
- You will independently develop concise PowerPoint presentations based on the latest evidence and current clinical practice. Strong ability to translate complex research into succinct information for the audience (primary care, pharmacy, distributor, etc).
- You will be an experienced, confident speaker presenting to a wide variety of audiences with the ability to present at regional or national clinical education programs as needed to support the team.
- You will enhance clinical/scientific knowledge of customers and colleagues through education and appropriate scientific exchange. Work collaboratively with Field Sales and relevant internal stakeholders to identify local/regional eduational gaps/needs and utilize appropriate field support that is aligned with clinial strategy. Implement Dexcom strategy and monitor progress towards sales goal achievement using Dexcom analytical tools.
- You will provide corporate value through demonstrated leadership aligning with company strategic direction. Communicate key information about Dexcom and its vision with key scientific and clinical information.
Cross-Functional Teamwork: - This role is field based. You will spend approximately 50% of time interfacing and interacting with Kaiser healthcare professionals building a strong rapport with new and existing HCP customers, KOLs, and other industry leaders.
- You will provide clinical leadership and resources to the CA Field Sales Team regarding CGM and tools (product training, clinical application, clinical studies/clinical selling and advocacy, CGM interpretation, etc.) to help with the growth of CGM as standard of care and support sales growth as an organization.
- You will establish strong cross-functional teamwork with Legal, RA, Compliance, Managed Markets, Clinical Education, New Markets and Sales & Marketing Teams, Medical/Clinical Affairs to effectively meet customer needs. This includes deep product knowledge, clinical evidence, and real-world evidence.
- You will provide Dexcom internal clinical education regarding diabetes, diabetes management and therapies.
Program Development: - You will assess, develop, facilitate, and implement programs and projects to support the marketing, advocacy, and education of CGM as standard of care throughout California, especially Kaiser, for all people living with diabetes or prediabetes.
- Through multi-facited networking, you will identify new opportunities for partnerships among HCPs that manage people with diabetes on both intensive insulin therapy and non-intensive inulin therapy.
- You will develop strong connections with local, regional, and national diabetes societies and associations/foundations to raise awareness and advocate for CGM and facilitate partnerships that lead to the development of initiatives driving CGM adoption as standard of care.
- You will engage in strategic planning of clinical education needs to support HCPs learning about CGM throughout the continuum of care (pediatric, adult, out-patient, etc.) with a specific focus on type 2 diabetes.
- You will identify innovative opportunities to develop initiatives to increase CGM awareness and drive CGM adoption within educational settings that train/educate HCPs (including fellows and students) that will eventually practice in primary care or population health settings.
- You will support the educational needs and collaborative efforts with other industry partners regarding product education and clinical messaging of CGM and be a clinical resource to the development teams.
What makes you successul: - Registered Pharmacist (PharmD), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or other relevant clinical degree required.
- CDCES required.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years experience with the education and treatment of adults living with type 2 diabetes.
- At least 2 years of experience directly related to the clinical use of CGM and its use with adults with diabetes and clinicians as a diabetes management tool.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required (both patient-facing and HCP communication).
- Expert skill in developing PowerPOint presentations to convey key messages with intended audience.
- Robust presentation skills to both clinicians and people with diabetes.
- Team-focused and strong collaborator to work with a highly functioning clinical team, yet ability to work independently and use critical thinking skills to make independent decisions.
- Must be able to think outside the box regarding clinical education needs, tools, and opportunities based on strategic priorities.
- The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment is critical.
- An outgoing personality, comfortable engaging wtih multiple audiences in both professional and social settings.
Preferred Qualifications: - Current experience or working knowledge of advanced diabetes and technologies, such as insulin pumps, diabetes software, digital health applications, and CGM is essential.
- Experience working with Dexcom CGM with ability to offer pertinent updates to colleagues.
- Work requires significant teamwork and collaboration with district and territory sales teams to achieve goals as assigned.
- Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evening work.
- A strong understanding of Dexcom CGM and competitive products is essential.
- A strong understanding of current and emerging diabetes therapeutics is highly desirable.
- Enthusiastic learner with desire to keep abreast of current topics and trends in diabetes technology. Subscriber and reader of newsletters, blogs, investor reports, etc.
- Commits and conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented.
