The Unit Secretary coordinates the provision of direct patient care according to Nursing Care Standards. Promotes and adheres to the IRMC core values of ICARE (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) and G.R.E.A.T. (greet/respond/explain/ask/thank) customer service standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In this role you will be:
* Must possess excellent writing skills with legible penmanship.
* Must possess well developed organizational and multi-tasking skills.
* Managing all clerical duties necessary for the operation and management of the unit(s) including registration of admissions, obtaining admission consents, insurance verification.
* Cover 1:1 or Constant Visual Observation (CVO) assignments.
* Work performed includes a broad range of responsibilities involving confidential or technical information and fielding telephone calls.
* Exemplifying the IRMC mission, vision, and values, acting in accordance with IRMC policies and procedures to ensure quality care is provided.
* Utilizing excellent interpersonal communication skill to effectively communicate with patients, family, and members of the organization.
* Will be required to float to all units, including Gero psych, adult, and adolescent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
* EDUCATION:
* A high school graduate or equivalent
* EXPERIENCE:
* Successful completion of medical terminology course. Business curriculum and knowledge of computers; word and spreadsheets preferred.
* Must be proficient in all Microsoft applications.
* Possesses the ability to work effectively in a working environment with multiple activities and continuous interruptions.
* LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
* Must be BLS certified required (or obtain within one month of hire).
