Classification Title:Clinical Service Representative IJob Description:This evening position is responsible for triaging, accessioning, processing, and/or registration of incoming specimens and slides received in the UF Health Pathology Laboratories. Specimens include blood, urine and other body fluids. Attention to detail and the ability to manipulate blood tubes and other specimen containersis required.In addition, this position is responsible for the maintenance of the UF Health Pathology Laboratories' consultation materials, files, data, and paperwork as required by regulatory agencies and to support the research, education, and clinical mission of the laboratory and departmentOther duties not limited to:CP Accessions/ ProcessingPrepare Clinical Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratoryanalysis and testing. Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to variousstaging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments orlocations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. Aliquots sample fordepartments. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and documents problemspecimens. Knowledge of common send out tests and the ability to navigate the test menu for variousreference laboratories. Prepare specimens for send out lab, create specimen-packing list and send samplelist electronically to the designated lab. Recognize specimen rejections and complete the appropriate follow-upprocedures. Communicating daily in communication log. Process add-on test requests from providers. Helpclient services with provider requests. Perform CLIA-waived testing and enter results into EPIC.Triage:Receive and record all specimens/slides/blocks into the daily receipt log, this includes checking bins in ShandsClinical Lab periodically throughout the day for additional samples. Pre-accession specimens, orders tests,print out labels and attaches to paperwork and specimen container, print Test Order form - then deliver toappropriate lab and specimen to designated location. Forwards copy of report to appropriate in-housephysician/lab. Importing Epic orders.General Lab duties:Answer/redirect phone calls. Keep track of reagent and supply inventory. Maintain and refresh work areasupplies. Empty Biohazard boxes/bins and take to disposal area. Keep work area in order to minimizecross-contamination of employees and/or patients and/or specimens.AP Accessions:Prepare Anatomic Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratoryanalysis and testing. Unpacks specimens and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Preparesall specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging ofslides, blocks, and other specimens. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves anddocument problem specimens.RegistrationCollects patient and insurance information and ensure required details are included on the forms.
