Clinical Services Director (RN)

Position Summary:
The Clinical Services Director is responsible for facilitating excellence in patient care delivery, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory policies and practices at HSS ambulatory locations.
Drawing on a broad understanding of ambulatory clinical practices and policies and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, the Director facilitates a wide range of clinical and administrative processes including nursing personnel management, best practice standardization, and quality improvement initiatives. The Director utilizes transformational leadership in partnership with all stakeholders to develop goals and objectives consistent with organizational mission and philosophy to support the growth of ambulatory clinical services.
The Ambulatory Services team works to provide an exceptional patient, physician, and staff experience at HSS ambulatory sites. The team works collaboratively to ensure high quality care delivery consistent with the HSS brand, and partners with leaders from various departments throughout the enterprise.?
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Partners with HSS nursing leadership and collaborate with other ambulatory nursing leaders to ensure consistent, quality patient care in all clinical areas.
- Offers guidance, mentorship, and direction to clinical leadership, promoting a culture of excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement in the pursuit of departmental or workgroup objectives
- Communicates enterprise nursing updates to site Routinely provides stakeholders with updated information by communicating openly, honestly, and in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with executive leadership and Quality to establish goals, objectives, and performance metrics for ambulatory clinical services
- Prioritizes work consistent with ambulatory strategic goals and enterprise-wide operating plan; meets deadlines.
- Leads and manages projects of different sizes and scopes, ensuring their successful This involves creating project plans, monitoring projects, promptly addressing delays or obstacle, delivering outcomes within designated timelines and measuring performance
- Routinely conducts site visits to ambulatory locations, demonstrating a strong presence and visibility to both leadership and staff
- Represents Ambulatory Services on relevant committees
- Provides guidance to the clinical leadership at each site, ensuring their active participation and application of the Magnet Program. This involves promoting nurse excellence and facilitating the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and ambulatory infrastructure
- Works in collaboration with clinical leadership at each site to effectively utilize resources, aiming to optimize efficiency and quality
- Incorporates the principles of continuous quality improvement
Clinical Services
- Evaluates clinical practice processes and usage of supplies and equipment across multiple sites, identifying variation and improvement opportunities. Determines best practices and develops a plan to implement them as standardized practices across all Implements and monitors the adoption of these practices to ensure their sustained implementation.
- Collaborates with ambulatory leadership to evaluate requests for new services or changes in operations
- Leads and participates in performance improvement initiatives
- Acts as a clinical expert for facility planning and design, demonstrating mastery in clinical decision making, critical thinking, knowledge acquisition and sharing, problem identification and ensuring practice safety
Personnel Management
- Coordinates monthly meetings with the clinical leadership from each ambulatory site to communicate updates, plan initiatives, and address issues
- Engages with Professional Development department to standardize and improve the onboarding processes, develop training schedules, design curriculum, and facilitate continuous learning opportunities. Additionally ensures that nursing staff maintain up-to-date competencies, licensures, and certifications.
- Participates in recruitment of clinical managers; creates and executes onboarding plans for new managers
Education
- Partners with Ambulatory Nursing Educator to identify education and training needs; review training materials and oversee effective and timely delivery of education.
Regulatory
- Reviews and updates clinical policies and procedures; ensures that updates are communicated to all clinical leaders at each site for dissemination of information.
- Assesses survey readiness across sites; generates and executes action plans to address risks or Collaborates with the teams to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and scopes.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- BSN required; Masters degree required or currently enrolled
- BLS certification required
- At least 3 years previous experience as a nurse with progressive leadership responsibilities
- Board specialty certifications required (ANCC)
- Current NYS, CT and NJ RN License & Registration, all 3 to be obtained prior to start.
- A collegial approach to partnering with physicians, clinical staff and leadership within the organization
- Outstanding communication skills oral, written and presentation coupled with the ability to mentor, mobilize and work collaboratively within high-functioning teams
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of Magnet environment and regulatory standards
- Strong management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong presentation and writing skills, and ability to interact and negotiate with key stakeholders at the executive and medical staff level.
Pay Range - Minimum: USD $155,000.00/Yr. Pay Range - Maximum: USD $175,000.00/Yr.
