Under general supervision, performs administrative functions in support of assigned utilization review or case management department. Receives and reviews correspondence from various internal and external sources (electronic, fax, telephone) and determines action needed and priority. Documents within the clinical system in accordance with internal and external guidelines. Prepares and assigns cases/files to clinical staff (Nurse, Social Worker, Care Navigator, Physician) . Responsibilities
- Sends and receives correspondence from various sources such as providers, members, and internal departments, and determines appropriate recipient, action and priority following departmental guidelines. Prepares and assigns clinical tasks, ascertains information is correct, and directs to the appropriate recipient.
- Performs administrative support functions; creates and maintains files, data entry, indexes documents received, and generates reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience - Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
- 3 years managed care support experience or equivalent experience supporting Nurses and Physicians in a healthcare environment.
Technical Skills and Knowledge - Knowledge of medical terminology, utilization review processes and awareness of health insurance benefits and claims data
- Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and Protected Health Information (PHI) regulations.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills. Proficient with document management systems (e.g., OnBase, RightFax).
- Strong data entry skills.
