The Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team providing treatment, support and follow-up to patients with substance use disorders. The individual must follow departmental and organizational policies and procedures regarding documentation, billing and ethical conduct while serving our patients.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATIONFor positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.Minimum Required: Associate's degree or higher in a field of behavioral science and 360 hours of substance use disorders specific training from Department of Safety and Professional Services approved program. Preferred/Optional: Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, human services or other related areas of study, with 360 hours of specific substance use disorder training. EXPERIENCEMinimum Required: 5000 hours of clinical experience in providing the 8 practice dimensions as a substance abuse counselor. Preferred/Optional: NoneCERTIFICATIONS/LICENSESThe following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.Minimum Required: Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) awarded by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
