JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Support Resource Nurse supports high quality, patient-centered care by offering feedback, guidance, and mentoring to new graduate nurses and/or nurses that are transitioning to NCH. This role serves to guide and educate on the hospital's standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs rounds on the nursing units to observe/assess patient acuity and evaluate the need for intervention.
- Identifies nursing educational needs.
- Acts as a resource for new to practice nurses, escalating concerns about nursing skills, patient care, and processes to leadership as appropriate.
- Serves as a positive professional role model, exhibiting clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
- Contributes to improving nurse satisfaction/engagement by serving as a role model and mentor, coaching staff in effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication, which includes active listening, and facilitating teamwork with RNs, non-licensed and interprofessional staff.
- Attends rapid responses and codes as needed; to observe, provide feedback, and debrief, facilitate education, direction, & coaching; before, during, & after the rapid response or code as indicated.
- Integrates evidence and research finding into practice.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care or nurse educator experience.
- BSN strongly preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- RN who enjoys teaching opportunities and is confident in their nursing knowledge and skills.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
