Changing Lives. ® The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a 100% Clinical Technician I. The Clinical Technician I, under direct supervision, operates and maintains specialized equipment for use in tests related to patient treatment and staff teaching in Emergency Medicine at the Medical Center North Liberty.
Duties include (but not limited to): - Responsible for specialized ED equipment while in use
- LUCAS, A-dec pac 1, and bronchoscope
- Oversee Emergency Department (ED) equipment for patient use
- Perform regular maintenance, monthly checks, and appropriate cleaning for ED equipment
- Maintain Eye room and Dental room equipment
- Responsible for monthly maintenance of the HazMat process including but not limited to, flushing lines, testing battery packs, and monitoring air tanks
- Responsible for monitoring pressure for PAPR's while HazMat decontamination is in process
- Assemble mass showers, set up lines, flush lines, and adjust water temperature throughout mass decontamination processes
- Assist with department orientation
- Manage CSS process
- Assist with supplies/equipment for off-site first aid stations
- Maintain downtime supplies/equipment
- Stock equipment specific carts
- Lead projects as needed
- TJC preparedness
- Back-up Patient Care Technicians as needed
- Assist other staff in performance of their duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, patients, and the public
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to collect data and maintain accurate records
- Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on various types of medical equipment

Minimum Eligibility Requirements- One year of health care experience involving direct patient care
Desired Qualifications- Excellent verbal and written communication skills desired
- Previous experience providing direct patient care in, or demonstrated knowledge of emergency medicine is desired
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
