Job Summary
- The Clinical Assistant is responsible for history taking and preparation of patients from newborns to the elderly, for examination as well as assisting with preparation of the exam, documenting and/or procedure. Will perform duties consistent with the needs of the communities served, in a manner that reflects the physical, psychological and spiritual healing ministry of Christ. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred.
- Successful completion of orientation skills checklist. BLS required within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a health care facility. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Performance RequirementsResponsibility:
- Performs medical functions for provider in the practice as delegated by licensed staff. Primary role will be assisting the provider in documenting at point of care- sounds like a scribe, and other duties as assigned from the provider. Other duties include assisting patients to exam rooms, medical histories, vital signs, assistance with exams/procedures, maintain/ordering stock in exam rooms and medical supply inventories, scheduling procedures/ surgeries and obtaining pre-certification as necessary. Responsible for cleaning treatment rooms between patients and at the end of the day and the proper cleaning and storage of all equipment used in patient treatment. Responsible for the disposal of all toxic waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Both internal and external personal contacts made on an ongoing basis, with excellent interpersonal skills/relationships a must. Some travel required to provide appropriate coverage to other offices. May not perform clinical duties independently without supervision or appropriate delegation from a licensed staff member.
- Physical Demands:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds-not sure there would be anything in a practice that is 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and must be able to work irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, toxic chemicals and/or fumes, and potentially dangerous body fluids.
Special Demands:
- Internal contacts with staff, patients and family members. External contacts with other providers, their office personnel, hospital staff, insurance companies, as well as patients and their families. Tactfulness, judgment, courteousness, patience, positive attitude and the ability to work cooperatively with others is required on an ongoing basis to adequately perform in this job. Maintains confidentiality, discusses patient data or other related work information only with authorized personnel or provider in appropriate setting. Assist Receptionist with issues regarding practice operations. Responsible for participation and compliance of departmental customer service plan and goals. Reflects the mission, philosophy, core values and customer service plan of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in action and attitude.
