DescriptionKings View is a nonprofit leader in providing behavioral health services to the underserved community, is currently seeking a driven Clinician I to join our mission to provide compassionate services to those with limited resources. Our ideal candidate will have a passion to promote social justice and societal awareness, respect for human dignity, and lead with integrity while listening and responding to the community in need.Clinician I (120)Porterville, CA/Tulare, CA Clinician I is part of the 24/7, Crisis Mobile Response Team serving individuals of all ages experiencing mental health crisis and/or substance use crisis. The Clinician I will respond to a broad range of non-life-threatening mental health calls and situations without police or EMS personnel for or from community members who appear to have a mental health or substance use concern, to offer crisis triage, symptom management, risk assessment, in-person psychoeducation, case management services, and follow up linkage within 72 hours to assist person served in remaining in the community setting with stability.How will I contributeDispatched and respond to individual persons experiencing a crisis events in the community, across Tulare County.Provide emergency crisis coverage for individuals exhibiting a behavioral health crisis, responding within the identified time frame.Provide onsite therapeutic interventions and support to persons and families in crisis, collaborating with other First Responders as needed for community-based stabilization.Act as a leader for the dispatched mobile team, providing clinical guidance and instruction to team members.Complete a brief mental health assessment to paint a clinical picture of the individual's needs and discuss appropriate treatment recommendations.Making clinical judgment about need for potential 5150/5585 placement for DTS/DTO/GD and/or provide safety planning.Discuss appropriate referrals, and provide case management and aftercare services, as assigned.Develop and maintain an awareness of community resources.Assist in de-escalation, with the goal of crisis stabilization, hospital, and jail diversion as appropriate.Evaluate and assess the severity of behavioral health symptoms.Provide emergency crisis coverage to law enforcement for adults/youth exhibiting a behavioral health crisis.Complete necessary program documentation within the identified program time frame.Provide behavioral health consultation (collaborate and coordinate multi-disciplinary team-based care with other programs, outside agencies, and medical health homes).Provide on-call services on a rotational basis as required by the program.Maintain accurate, written clinical records of services provided per established agency, COA, HIPAA, CCBHC and CalAIMS standards. Complete documentation within established timeframes.Timely completion of any provider enrollment forms and reports needed for third-party payers or other outside entities.Provide consultation and support training efforts for law enforcement to include ride along' s, shift change updates, and involvement with the Crisis Intervention Officer Training.Assist in the promotion of agency mission, services, workshops, and classes.May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff may be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible.What I bringMaster's Degree in Social Sciences or related1 year experience providing crisis management and/or mental health services.Current Associate Licensure ASW, AMFT, APCC. Must have a National Provider Identification (NPI) number or obtain an NPI number prior to start dateClass C Driving LicenseWorking knowledge of community and hospital resources. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft TEAMS and Internet access.Ability to quickly develop rapport with individuals to resolve crisis situations. Ability to assess individual's potential for dangerousness to self, others and/or grave disability. Ability to make a differential diagnosis between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies. Ability to appropriately and immediately document client interactions. Ability to utilize computer technology and electronic health recordMust possess independent clinical judgment and the ability to critically assess a situation for risk and response. Strong communication skills and knowledge of crisis intervention, behavioral health and risk assessment.Substance Abuse clinical experience preferred.
