Job Description: Outpatient CounselorPosition OverviewThe Outpatient Counselor plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, client-centered care aligned with Fellowship House's mission to provide effective substance use and mental health services. This position requires a commitment to nonprofit values, including collaboration, integrity, and putting the client's well-being first. The Outpatient Counselor will perform clinical assessments, treatment planning, and direct care services within a team-oriented system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct continuous clinical assessments of clients' strengths, needs, and limitations based on ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) dimensions, providing timely recommendations regarding appropriate levels of care. - Collaborate within a team-oriented system, incorporating input from clients, colleagues, and client collateral resources to deliver individualized care. - Utilize multiple sources of information to develop, implement, and update personalized treatment plans effectively and efficiently. - Administer alcohol and drug testing for clients and maintain accurate records. - Assist with progressive medication management in collaboration with case managers and program assistants. - Conduct intake screenings, transition support, and facilitate group sessions or lectures for clients across all Fellowship House levels of care. - Manage and maintain comprehensive client documentation for all clients on the caseload (average of 40 clients in the Outpatient Program). - Coordinate intake scheduling with Walker County Jail staff, conduct intakes, and provide group sessions or follow-ups for current clients within the facility. - Travel to Walker County Jail for client services, including assessments, group therapy, and ongoing case management. - Fulfill a 40-hour workweek schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours as necessary to meet client needs. RequirementsJob Requirements- Educational Background: Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. - Commitment to Professional Development: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education, certifications, and skill development related to Fellowship House services. - Knowledge and Skills: - Understanding of ASAM dimensions and levels of care. - Familiarity with Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care and NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) Principles of Effective Treatment. -Comprehensive knowledge of the biopsychosocial effects of addiction and co-occurring disorders on individuals, families, and communities. -Effective written and oral communication skills for clinical documentation and community outreach. -Ability to work collaboratively with clients, groups, and team members to develop and execute treatment plans. -Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate clinical responsibilities, including maintaining an average caseload of 40 clients. -Familiarity with Fellowship House services, including its mission, objectives, and operations, with a commitment to ongoing learning. - Certifications and Licensure: - Valid driver's license. - CPR and First Aid certification (must be renewed annually).
