We are currently seeking an onsite senior cloud network engineer to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with experienced engineers and makes sure satellites can communicate with their ground systems. Our program supports the Space Systems Command and our network team is responsible for monitoring and support of network infrastructure (Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs) and virtual server environments (servers, storage area networks, and VMware). The senior cloud network engineer should be able to troubleshoot, install, implement and administer network systems, both on premise and in the cloud. We need experts who can determine what needs to be done and go off and do it but also work successfully as part of a team.
You will
Analyze network characteristics such as traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput
Assist more senior network engineers with the installation, removal and modifications to network components
Configure, deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot multivendor switches, routers, firewalls, UPS, and network gear in operational and test lab environments and solutions, including Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, HPE, or Juniper
Engineer and support the customer's AWS environment, ensuring robust network and security design
Continuously analyze and recommend improvements for AWS cloud network and security
Implement, and secure network infrastructure, including virtual networks, subnets, security groups, and access controls within AWS
Operate, deploy, or administer Linux and Unix systems
Provide occasional after-hours operational support for networks
Apply your knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools (Solar Winds, WireShark, etc.) to analyze network activity and problems
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, policies, and procedures, including network topologies and diagrams, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards
Work independently and as part of team
Required Skills:
Active DoD Top Secret of DOE Q security clearance with SCI eligibility to start; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
A Bachelor's degree in science or technology related discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university and 9 years or more of relevant experience; a Master's degree and 7 years or more experience. May substitute 4 years or more experience for a bachelor's degree.
Must possess DoD 8570 baseline certification
Experience with cloud migration projects using AWS and understanding of cloud security frameworks and best practices (e.g., SOC 2, PCI, NIST)
Strong background in Microsoft Office tools and Visio
Able to figure out what needs to be done with minimal direction
Record of success in contributing to the completion of programs and projects; ability to obtain results and make key recommendations
Desired Experience
Strong background in software-defined networking (SDN) and scripting languages such as Terraform, bash, Python, Ansible and PowerShell.
Cloud certification such as CompTIA Cloud+, Google Certified Professional (GCP) Cloud Architect, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect – Associate, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Cloud Security Alliance: Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK)
Good understanding of discipline process; information and data management, configuration control
Seasoned communicator with demonstrated record of success in leadership, followership, and working with contract representatives and government sponsors.
Ability to provide high-level summary of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data
