Job Description:
Our challenge We are currently in search of a hands-on Solution Architect with a strong focus on Kubernetes (K8) ecosystems. The ideal candidate will not be centered on cluster administration but will instead be deeply involved in collaborating with Application Development (App/Dev) teams. The role requires a professional dedicated to the design and implementation of microservice architectures, performance tuning, and seamless integration with service mesh frameworks. Also, the candidate should understand monitoring and alerting within the K8 environment, and an optional proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for efficient microservice delivery into Kubernetes clusters. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within New York, NY is $135k - $145k/year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with App/Dev teams to architect and design robust microservice architectures within a Kubernetes environment.
  • Lead performance optimization initiatives for services running in K8, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Facilitate the integration of service mesh technologies to streamline network operations and enhance microservice communication.
  • Develop and oversee monitoring and alerting strategies for Kubernetes clusters to ensure high availability and prompt incident response.
  • Optionally, design and implement CI/CD pipelines to support the continuous integration and delivery of microservices into K8 clusters.
  • Serve as a Kubernetes subject matter expert, providing guidance and best practices to development teams.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies within the Kubernetes ecosystem to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements: You are:
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes environments.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and its core principles.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) and their integration into K8.
  • Strong knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques for Kubernetes.
  • Competence in setting up and managing monitoring and alerting tools in a K8 context.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and methodologies, especially as they pertain to Kubernetes deployments (optional but preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a passion for driving technology forward.
