Position Summary: Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Operator plays a key role in the manufacturing and production process here at Sterling. Operators are required to learn multiple skills relating to line production to maximize their contribution to CLT operations. Safety is of primary importance and each Operator is required to know all risks, hazards, and rules pertaining to safety on the CLT line and within Sterling facilities. CLT Operators are also required to problem solve, maintain a clean workspace, follow 5S visuals, and perform maintenance tasks as needed. Essential Functions:
- Review and understand each Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Wear the appropriate PPE described in the JSA.
- Perform the work consistent with the Standard Work analysis and the JSA.
- Operate various positions on the line (up to 20 line positions on the Planer and CLT lines)
- Monitor material and remove poor quality material from the line as guided and trained.
- Perform various quality checks as required.
- Maintain close watch and communicate line problems to Leads or Supervisors
- Stop the line when Safety, Quality, Productivity cannot be ensured.
- Performs autonomous preventative maintenance to CLT line.
- Maintains a high level of cleanliness of CLT line including lean practices.
- Actively demonstrate a positive attitude focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Ownership
- Work with team to problem solve, monitor safety, and accomplish tasks.
- Occasionally operator forklift to assist in operations.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Highschool graduate, or GED is required
- At least one (1) year of experience is required in warehouse setting
- Previous production experience and fork-lift preferred.
