ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for providing administrative support (Front Desk), clinical support as a medical assistant and Phlebotomy as a Patient Services Technician.1.Administrative support functions include, but are not limited to, the following:Check-in and check-out functions, including registration, cashiering and end-of-day close out.2.The clinical support functions include, but are not limited to, the following:Providing patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocation Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patient and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to this position by the physician or RN. This position requires additional duties which include administration of injectables and assisting with minor office procedures.3.The Patient Services function include:Perform pediatric and adult venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other collection services as ordered by the provider. Perform CLIA waived testing (i.e., urine dip, pregnancy tests, finger stick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, rapid influenza tests, finger stick PT/INR, monospots, sed rates, rapid steps) as described in the laboratory procedure manual with minimal/no supervision. Maintain accurate laboratory records and make available for inspections/audits by Lab Supervisor/Director, Lab Consultant and CLIA Surveyors. Perform necessary quality controls; participate in proficiency testing as required. Maintain lab instruments as indicated by manufacture recommendations and follow all safety guidelines in effect.4.This position may be required to rotate to multiple departments.Job Title: CMA (Certified Medical Assistant)/Patient Services IILocation: EldridgeDepartment: Patient AccessJob Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $41,880 - $51,725 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)QualificationsEducationRequired: High School diploma or G.E.D. and Graduate form an accredited Medical Assistant Program.Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in related fieldExperienceRequired: 3 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant.5 years of direct face to face customer service experience to include cash handling or collections experiencewithin a medical office, healthcare setting or other service-related industry.3 years of directly related experience performing phlebotomy services in a patient service center, clinic, orhospital setting.1 year of waived testing and specimen processing experience in clinical settingPreferred: 3+ years of working in a physician, hospital, or medical office environment to include patientregistration, appointment scheduling and medical billing to include:1+ years in Primary Care1+ years in a Specialty Care setting2+ years of insurance and /or managed care experience to include insurance verification and the ability toidentify, understand and communicate plan details to patients with HMO, PPO, EPO, Medicare and otherplans.5+ years direct phlebotomy service experience in a Patient Service Center, Clinic, or hospital setting.License(s)Required: Certified or Registered as a Medical AssistantPreferred: Certified Phlebotomist and Certified/Registered MedicalSpecial SkillsRequired: Those hired into this position must complete the KSC review/skill validation program within 90 daysof hire.Able to use related equipment and supplies for selected patient population.Experience with computers and Windows-based software.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
