The CMA as the ability to maintain regulatory requirements, nursing and office/ clinic policies, procedures, and standards.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Escorts patients to examining rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit.Maintains established office/clinic policies and procedures, goals, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols.Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families per office/clinic standards.Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistants scope of practice.Meets communication needs of patients.Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Finds and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant.Performs other duties as assigned, within the Medical Assistants scope of practice.Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age.Notifies proper licensed personnel when patient complaints.Maintains knowledge of operation and maintenance of clinical equipment, drugs, and supplies.Demonstrates ability to communicate to the RN or LPN any observed changes in patient status and responses.
