Job Summary: Performs select clinical and administrative tasks related to the operation of Premier Imaging to assist staff and Radiologists as permitted by their certification. Such duties do not constitute the practice of medicine. The CMA may prepare patients for exams, provide care needs, administer medication, and assist with specific procedures with appropriate orientation and supervision.
Education:
Degree/Diploma: Associates Medical Assistant RequiredCertifications: AAMA-CMA Required, CPR certification required within 90 days of employmentExperience:
1+ year of cash handling, scheduling, insurance verification (Preferred)1+ year of care and treatment of patients in a healthcare setting (Preferred)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Completion of a comprehensive on-the-job training program.Excellent communication skills.Ability to understand and follow the directions of the physician.Excellent interpersonal and computer skills required.Job Specific Duties:
Patient Education: Provides patient education regarding medications, home treatment, and special diets; prepares patients for procedures based on reason for visit and assists in procedures as appropriate.Equipment & Supplies: Demonstrates competency in the proper handling and monitoring of patient-related equipment.Verification & Documentation: Verifies insurance using the best and most cost-effective method; ensures required documentation is accurate, complete, and legible.Physician Assistant Support: Prepares and administers medications with physician's authorization; performs procedures as ordered and documents appropriately.Patient Scheduling: Properly schedules patients with appropriate information and verification.Organization: Assures rooms are adequately stocked with supplies and clean linen.Discrepancy Follow-Up & Assurance: Reviews lab reports from referring offices and matches with patient records.Professionalism: Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by management.Physical and Behavioral Requirements:
Occasional sitting and stooping; frequent standing, walking, and reaching.Light physical force required (up to 20 pounds occasionally, or up to 10 pounds frequently).Visual acuity required for reading medical records and physician orders.Ability to speak and hear is required for patient safety during direct patient care.Manual finger dexterity required for patient care.Ability to effectively manage a fast-paced high-stress physician practice environment.National Patient Safety Goals:
