Our client just outside Binghamton, NY is looking to add a CMM Programmer to their growing team! Candidates should have at least a High School Diploma and a few years of experience in quality control, or manufacturing. This role is responsible for calibrating and operating CMM machines to measure characteristics of machined parts. CAD skills and GD&T experience is also important for this position. responsibilities:

  • Create measurement programs for the CMM based on engineering drawings, CAD models, or specifications, ing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles and selecting appropriate measurement strategies.

  • Calibrate the CMM regularly to ensure accuracy and set up the machine for specific tasks, including fixture design and alignment.

  • Operate the CMM to measure dimensions, geometries, and surface characteristics of parts, ensuring conformance to engineering specifications and quality standards.

  • Analyze measurement data to identify trends, deviations, and potential quality issues, using statistical methods and software tools to determine part acceptance or rejection.

  • Document measurement procedures and results, generate inspection reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders such as production teams, quality assurance, or customers.

  • Troubleshoot CMM issues and perform routine maintenance to ensure the machine's optimal performance and reliability.

  • Use Lean tools and principles to eliminate waste (e.g., scrap, rework, excess inventory) and improve process efficiency, ing systemic thinking to address root causes and enhance the flow of information and materials.
