Job Description:

The Home Health Aide is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Therapist and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient's needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsibilities of the Home Health Aide include, but are not limited to: baths; applying lotions to skin, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linenAssists patients with dressing and undressingPerforms skin care to prevent breakdownAssists the patient with toileting activitiesKeeps patient's living area clean and orderly, as appropriatePlans and prepares nutritious mealsAssists in feeding the patient, if necessaryTakes and records oral, rectal or axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency)Assists in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of carePerforms range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency)Assists patient in the self-administration of medication per policyHandles patient's laundry, as appropriateMeets safety needs of patients and uses equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, etc.)Reports on the patient's condition and significant changes to the assigned nurseAdheres to Amergis' documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conductMinimum Requirements:Certification may be required per state/contractComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
