Job Description:

Patient Assistance:
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and using the restroom.
- Help with patient mobility, including positioning, transfers, and walking.
- Provide support with feeding, ensuring that patients are properly nourished and hydrated.
- Ensure patient comfort by making adjustments to bedding, pillows, and personal items as needed.

Vital Signs Monitoring:
- Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration rate.
- Report any significant changes or abnormalities in vital signs to the nursing team.

Patient Observations:
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report any signs of distress or abnormalities.
- Assist in observing and documenting patients physical and emotional needs.

Hygiene and Infection Control:
- Assist with hygiene and personal care, ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of patient areas, including changing linens and ensuring a sterile environment.

Communication and Documentation:
- Report patient conditions, concerns, and observations to the nursing staff.
- Accurately document care provided and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR) or paper chart.

Patient Comfort and Emotional Support:
- Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Offer comfort and reassurance to patients in distress or pain, ensuring they feel safe and cared for.

Assisting with Treatments and Procedures:
- Assist nursing staff with minor medical procedures as directed, such as taking specimens, applying dressings, or performing range-of-motion exercises.
- Provide assistance during routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as required by nursing staff.

Environmental Maintenance:
- Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and properly stocked with supplies.
- Assist with maintaining a safe environment by identifying hazards and ensuring that equipment is in proper working condition.

Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with registered nurses, doctors, and other healthcare staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members or students, as needed.
Qualifications:

Education and Licensing:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
- Active Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification in the state of practice.

Certifications:
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid certifications may be required or preferred.
- Additional certifications may be required based on specific healthcare facility requirements.

Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required. On-the-job training may be provided.
- Experience working with elderly or chronically ill patients is beneficial.

- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to follow instructions and deliver care within established protocols.
- Attention to detail, especially when recording patient data and following procedures.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients, assist with transfers, and handle medical equipment.

Work Conditions:
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the healthcare setting.
