Job Description:
JOB SUMMARYWorking in conjunction with the Administrative Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, RN and LPN, the CNA performs a variety of basic resident care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of residents. The CNA works under the direction of a licensed nurse who must follow the principles of delegation. CNA work is reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The CNA will integrate departmental goals for improvement across the care continuum. The CNA practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, Wyoming Department of Health and CMS guidelines.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists with basic patient care and ADL's according to plan of care.
  • Observes residents and reports unusual conditions and/or responses to Charge Nurse of respective Unit.
  • Enhances resident safety by attending bedside shift huddle and performance of hourly rounding.
  • Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
  • Assists dietary staff in passing meal trays and setup per care plan.
  • Passes water, ice, clean linens and supplies to resident/patient rooms.
  • Fills Helios portable oxygen machines utilizing appropriate PPE.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs routine cleaning tasks.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers in accordance with AIDET and Excellence Every Day.
  • Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
  • Documents on residents according to policy; ADLs, Behavior, Bath and Skin integrity and etc.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Actively participates in facility committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
  • Alerts staff when supplies, including equipment are needed and replenishes stock.
  • Completes van competency and transports residents as needed.
  • May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and residents.
  • Adheres to CCH policies and procedures.
  • Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
    • High school graduate or GED, completion of nurse's aide certification.
  • Certification
    • Currently certified in the State of Wyoming
  • Experience
    • Previous CNA experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) to maintain CNA certification.
  • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed in dealing with nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
  • Knowledge of basic patient care procedures. Able to think quickly, handle various projects simultaneously with attention to accuracy, prioritization, patient request, detail, memory, problem solving, reasoning, ability to memorize routine assignments, computer mnemonics, all with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to explain procedures to patients and speak clearly to communicate with patients, families, physicians, and staff regarding patient's condition, etc.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions.
  • Analytical and reasoning skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory.
  • Ability to develop positive interactions and solve complex problems in a professional manner under stress with patients, patients' families, physicians, and staff in order to effectively care for the patients
  • Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the appropriate age of the patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in the following age groups:
    • Infant (Neonate to Age 1)
    • Pediatric (Age 1-11)
    • Adolescent (12-18)
    • Adult (19-64)
    • Geriatric (Age 65 and older)
