Position Type:Certified Student Support Services/Certifed OtherDate Posted:1/9/2024Location:Avondale Schools Administrative OfficesDistrict:Avondale School District - website AVONDALE SCHOOL DISTRICTPOSITION: CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT & MEDICAL ASSISTANTHOURS PER DAY: 8WORK SCHEDULE: Monday thru FridayPAY RATE: $21.50/ hour commensurate with experienceQUALIFICATIONS:CNA or Medical Assistant Certification is requiredCurrent State of Michigan LicensureMust be at least 18 years oldDemonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilitiesMental and physical ability to perform assigned job duties; must pass a physical examination including drug testSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableRegular, reliable, and punctual attendance to the job is an essential functionREPORTS TO: Supervisor, TransportationSUPERVISES: NoneJOB GOAL: To assist in providing safe transportation of special needs students to and from designated locations.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:* Tracheostomy Care, Frequent Suctioning, Monitoring respiratory status and ventilator and/or oxygen support as necessary.* Health procedure training e.g diastat, feeding tube, catheter, diabetic care/monitoring.* Must be able to position self to secure any special equipment accompanying student, including wheelchairs, shoulder harnesses, seat belts, for both child and youth* Ability to move, remove, and/or position lifts and wheelchairs to assist the driver* Ability to ascend and descend school bus and assist young or disabled students in ascending and descending school bus* Responsible for being alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to the student* Know evacuation and emergency procedures and be able to assist, kneel, crouch or crawl to perform and/ or assist in bus emergency* Ability to move or transport a minimum of 75 pounds* Ability to move or traverse to assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct* Responsible for following guidelines outlined in the Transportation Handbook, as well as District guidelines, policies, and procedures.* Use appropriate communication, display a courteous and caring attitude in dealing with students, parents, and other employees* Assists in providing written records of violations of the student code to the Supervisor of Transportation or Dispatcher.* Maintains student emergency information.* Attends any required training and in-services* Attendance to the job is required* Lifting above the head is required.* Performs such other duties and or functions as assigned and/ or deemed necessary by the nature of the work assignments and/ or needs of theOTHER SKILLS and ABILITIESAbility to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students Ability to physically manage students and equipmentAble to observe unusual student behavior and advise supervisorPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
