Providing care for our small community of individuals with intellectual disabilities during this time depends on the best care and the safest practices. The ideal candidates must be devoted and compassionate about their chosen career and impact the quality of life of those we serve.Are you a dependable, self-motivated, team player that is flexible? CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) are integral to caring for our residents and play a vital role. The CNA provides services to adults with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities. This position ensures optimal health and safety of residents while encouraging independence and appropriate risk-taking. This is a 24-hour facility and requires employees to supervise residents at all times with constant attention to detail and alertness.We believe care was not meant to be warehoused, personalized and individualized service is important with low resident-to-staff ratios. The residence is home to 9 individuals.Required Education and Experience
- HS diploma or GED (required)
- Must be a Virginia licensed CNA or willing to become licensed within 6 months of hire.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
- Valid driver's license and meet requirements of motor vehicle check, drug/alcohol testing, and child abuse/neglect with the VA. Dept. of Social Services (required)
Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge and ability to utilize personal protective equipment in a manner that is compliant with standard precautions and safety expectations; Ability to safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance; Ability to lift and transfer individuals up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with individuals as needed; Able to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous especially to individuals we serve; Ability to learn and successfully certify in medication administration; Knowledge of electronic health records and documentation standards as required by the program; Regular attendance at trainings and AHCS meetings; Knowledge and ability to operate a computer, electronic timesheet, and other software/systems used by AHCS; Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license; transport individuals, etc.All shifts available, including day, evening, and overnight. The primary need is evening and overnight with shift differentials provided.
