DescriptionThe purpose of an A Machine Operator is to insure that all machining (CNC & EDM) is done in accordance with control plans and customer expectations. An A Machine Operator must have a thorough knowledge of CNC machining and the capabilities of CNC machines and is expected to participate in the quoting and designing of tools in addition to the tool path programming and machining of tools. An A Machine Operator is expected to understand the function of all mold components and the tolerances that are needed to produce a quality mold and therefore produce work that meets these expectations. An A Machine Operator must be able and willing to learn new technology as it becomes available. An A Machine Operator may be asked to work on more than one machine, depending on workload, and is expected to work with little or no supervision, to perform all duties in a safe manner, and to report any safety concerns. Work areas must be maintained in a clean, organized, and efficient manner. An A Machine Operator is responsible for implementation of Quality Systems as identified in the Flambeau Technology Center's Quality Assurance Manual and Supporting Documentation.Responsibilities:
- Program and machine mold components in accordance with tool designs and control plans or approved procedures.
- Quality checks required by control plans.
- Review mold designs for work assigned.
- Train, assist, and impart knowledge to other associates including apprentices.
- Participate in quote meetings and tool design meetings as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of a specific vocational field, i.e. Moldmaking.
- Application and use of variable measuring instruments and computers.
- Use of higher mathematics involved in the application of engineering principles and the performance of related practical operations, together with a comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices of mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, civil or a like engineering field. This is equivalent to a complete 4 year technical or university education.
- Quality and quantity performance standards under normal supervision should be attained in over 3 up to and including 5 years.
- Apprenticeship should be completed or 4 to 6 years related experience.
- Continuously lifting or moving material of light weight (up to 10 #)
- Frequently lifting or moving average weight material (between 25# to 60#)
- Occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (over 60#)
- Must be able to climb equipment, ladders and steep stairs
- Must have sufficient strength, agility and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
