Join our team and help shape thefuture of unmanned technology within the defense industry today!GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:To perform machining tasks as directed by their supervisor utilizing the CNC Vertical Milling Center (main responsibility), Bridgeport Mill, Engine Lathe and CNC Lathe as well as other Machine Shop support equipment (i.e. grinder, belt sander, cold saw, etc.).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of CNC Machinists. Each level of CNC Machinist has additional duties and responsibilities listed.• Updates set-up and tooling sheets as required, maintaining the VMC logbook for shift turnover, documenting travelers and Discrepant Materials Report (DMR).• Basic programming ( G codes). • Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as right-the-first-time attitude.• Inspects work utilizing basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc).• Sets up and oversees Machine Operators as required during post machining runs.• Provides suggestions or advice to maximize the efficiency of Machine Shop.• Maintains a clean work area and ensures strict adherence to the 5S Standards.• Accurately adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.• Uses various machine shop support equipment including Saws, Belt Sanders, Grinders, Overhead Cranes and Drill Press.• Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices.• Complies with established safety directives.• Complies with established QMS procedures. CNC Machinist I1. Works under limited supervision.2. Works under minimal supervision.2. Responsible for training less skilled CNC Machinists.3. Works very independently.2. Specific duties and responsibilities for this level include an advanced level of:• Math• Documentation• Materials Knowledge• Tooling/Molds• Equipment• Process• Quality• SafetyNon-Essential Job Duties• Other duties may be assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.Compensation$25.00 - $40.00 Hourly KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Each successive level of CNC Machinist builds on the identified knowledge, skills and abilities listed for the previous level(s) CNC Machinists. • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards• Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors• Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary• Ability to adhere to workplace rules CNC Machinist I• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures involving CNC machines.• Knowledge of cutters and effective use of cutters for maximum efficiency.• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement techniques beneficial.
  • Ability to create, edit and save (familiarity with PC a must) various programs on an as needed basis.
  • Knowledge of the HAAS controllers a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.• Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.• Ability to comprehend geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. CNC Machinist II• Must be able to interpret and work from industry specifications.CNC Machinist III• Ability to train and mentor level I and II CNC Machinists EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Each successive level of CNC Machinist builds on the identified education and experience listed for the previous level(s) CNC Machinists. CNC Machinist IRequired:
  • 2-3 years of hands on experience in a CNC Machine Shop.
  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • Typical qualifications for this level include:
  • • Math - solid understanding of fractions and decimals.• Documentation• Materials Knowledge• Tooling/Molds• Equipment• Process• Quality• Safety
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with aircraft machined parts a definite plus.
    CNC Machinist IIRequired:
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in a CNC Machine Shop.
  • Must be able to demonstrate accurate intermediate math skills.
  • Typical qualifications for this level include an intermediate level of:
  • • Math - functional understanding and practical application of trigonometry• Documentation• Materials Knowledge• Tooling/Molds• Equipment• Process• Quality• SafetyPreferred:
  • Experience with aircraft machined parts a definite plus.
  • CNC Machinist IIIRequired:
    • 8+ years hands-on experience in composite manufacturing.
    • Proven experience handling and machining various composite materials.
    • Proven experience handling and machining various honeycomb metal bond assemblies.
    • Typical qualifications for this level include an advanced level of:
      • Math - functional to advanced understanding and practical application of trigonometry

  • Experience with aircraft machined parts a definite plus.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to stand and sit for long periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50 poundsStanding, walking, bending, reaching and working from slightly elevated surface.
