What You'll Do:
- Set up and operate NC and CNC machines, as well as any conventional machines in the Casting Cells, to perform various machining operations such as turning, drilling, tapping, boring, reaming, threading, forming, facing, milling, slotting, grooving, chamfering, serrating, and deburring on a variety of explosion-proof parts made from various materials.
- Operate a range of machines, including single spindle and multi-spindle drill presses and tappers, milling machines, parts washers, and deburring grinders.
- Refer to assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and machining blueprints to maintain precise tolerances.
- Set controls and perform manual data input functions as needed, review operation data sheets, parts program, tape readouts, and prints, and adjust collets and/or chucks. Load and unload parts, as well as tools, as necessary.
- Check the first piece using fixed or adjustable gauges, periodically gauge and visually inspect all parts for appearance and compliance with specifications, and make corrections for any discrepancies.
- Maintain a steady flow of materials to the machines and remove finished work as necessary to establish a flow through the cells.
- Operate a fork truck to facilitate your work or to move material around the department as required.
- Maintain the work area, machines, and control units in a clean, neat, and orderly condition, and follow 5-S principles.
Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years of previous work experience in machine setup and operation.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, charts, and tables.
- Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Syracuse facility (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of work experience with NC & CNC machine setup and operation.
- Fork truck experience.
Skills and Certifications:
- Machine set-up in manufacturing.
- Located within 50 miles of Syracuse plant.
