Job Summary:As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for preparing and operating CNC machines to perform precision tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, and tapping. This role involves translating instructions into computer commands, overseeing machine operations, ensuring quality control, and contributing to shop improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:* Prepare and operate CNC machines to execute tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, and tapping.* Translate instructions and blueprints into computer commands to ensure machines perform the correct functions.* Oversee machine operations, making necessary program adjustments to improve the quality of finished parts.* Use manual micrometers, calipers, and gauges to measure dimensions with precision as small as .0001'.* Follow and contribute to the improvement of shop safety rules.* Routinely rig and handle parts weighing up to 5,000 lbs.* Transport parts using forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and other equipment.* Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to guide machining processes.* Recognize and properly utilize inserts, fixtures, and various tooling.* Sign out and account for tooling and consumables accurately.* Obtain Quality Control (QC) approval at designated hold points.* Provide feedback to estimators on quotes, budgets, and related concerns.* Assist with shop improvement activities and other duties as required.Education:* High School Diploma or GED preferred.Experience:* Experience in CNC machine operation and a strong understanding of machining processes are highly desirable.Knowledge Skills & Abilities:* Dependable with the capability to frequently work long hours.* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.* Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.* Strong attention to detail with the ability to measure dimensions with extreme precision.* Familiarity with rigging and handling heavy parts using cranes and forklifts.* Commitment to safety and the ability to work safely in hazardous environments.Work Location and Travel:* The position is based at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL 33801.* Work hours and days vary, with shifts scheduled from Monday through Sunday; some overnight work and frequent overtime may be required.Work Environment:* The working environment often involves exposure to harsh elements, including hot, humid, or cold temperatures, and rainy conditions.* Industrial environments may expose the CNC Operator to hazardous chemicals, heavy moving equipment, machinery, and other safety-sensitive risks.* Constant alertness and adherence to safety protocols are required to safely perform the essential duties of the job without endangering oneself or others.* Mid-State maintains a firm commitment in providing a safe and healthy work environment for its employees and quality services to its clients. Must also submit to a post-offer / pre-employment background check that verifies criminal history.Physical Requirements:Talk/Hear: Required to communicate with team members, receive instructions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety during machine operation.Stand/Sit: Frequently used to monitor machine operations, make adjustments, and perform tasks such as setting up and inspecting parts.Walk: Needed to move between different machines, retrieve tools and materials, and transport parts within the shop.Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: to operate machine controls, handle tools, measure parts, and make precise adjustments to equipment.Climb: Occasionally needed to access elevated parts of machines, retrieve materials from higher shelves, or perform maintenance tasks on equipment.Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Occasionally needed to access and maintain hard-to-reach areas of machines, set up equipment, and inspect or adjust components at low levels.See: Required to read blueprints, monitor machine operations, inspect parts for accuracy, and ensure that all processes are performed correctly and safely.Carry, weight, Lift: Needed to handle raw materials, position heavy parts, and transport tools or finished products within the shop.Exposure to work: Exposure to work environments with heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noise, hazardous materials, and varying temperatures, requiring constant vigilance to maintain safety.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Mid-State participates in E-Verify.
