Incumbent is responsible for setting up CNC equipment, training operators, supporting operators, conducting first and last article inspections, in process inspections, supporting material activities such as cutting and delivering steel, operating CNC equipment in a production capacity as needed. Incumbent ensures that optimum productivity is achieved by maintaining equipment in operation, ensuring that operators are able to remain at their stations producing parts, reducing set-up times to improve operational efficiency, reducing cycle times for part processing, and by consistently monitoring operator output against standards. This will be a first shift position with a work schedule of 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Responsibilities
- Assist in instilling a zero tolerance for unsafe conditions and/or unsafe acts. A leader by example of Safety First .
- Supports CNC operations to achieve maximum productivity by:
- Performing technically intensive changeovers
- Providing CNC operator support via training, materials, productivity monitoring, and feedback.
- Troubleshooting production related problems.
- Assisting in-process quality inspections.
- Running production when not providing one of the above.
- Drives production process improvements through reduced set-up times, increased outputs and improved first pass yields.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
- Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments, such as micrometers.
- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specification, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Uses Effective and Respectful communication style to support operators in finding ways to improve productivity, quality, efficiencies, and safety.
Qualifications
- Must pass standard hands-on assessment to be considered for this position.
- Must pass the CNC Operator test with a score of at least 80%.
- 3 year's experience as a CNC Operator including completing own set ups on CNC machines.
- Demonstrated history of a positive attitude and good team-work skills.
- Able to read and interpret blue-prints, and use precision measuring devices.
- Able to operate various machines including side loader, forklifts.
- Must be able to identify, locate and use various tools that they may need to load into the machine.
- Mechanical aptitude in working with a variety of machines. (Advanced shop math skills to include calculation of machine cycle times, operational efficiencies, a plus).
- Understanding of Snap-on's Quality Management system.
- Understanding of shop safety requirements.

- Must be a problem solver to be able to troubleshoot the machine if something goes wrong.
- Understands CNC machines that they are working on and know its capabilities and limitations.
- Possess a continuous improvement mindset.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older and good command of English including, reading, writing, and speaking.
- First choice is given to full-time hourly associates with the related experience and with no current write ups or safety infractions.
PREFERRED
- Machine Tool Technology Degree or comparable experience (at least 5 years)
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions are:
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 35 pounds without assistance.
- Must adhere to requirements set forth within the Job Safety Analysis for each piece of equipment they work with or around.
- Must be able to stand for 8 to 10-hour shift.
- Must utilize all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for each work task.
- Must report all unsafe acts & conditions immediately to their supervisor or EHS.
- Must report all work-related injuries immediately to their supervisor or EHS.
- Must adhere to all other Health, Safety & Environmental requirements & guidelines set forth for the job tasks assigned.
