Position: Academic Department Head Special Education Department 9-1sLocation: DistrictThe ideal candidate will have experience as a special education teacher. Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and/or Director of Special Programs and/or Principal, the department head's primary role is to provide instructional leadership, support, and assistance to all teachers in the department. The department head serves as a resource to support a standards-based curriculum, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and instructional materials.The department head creates building-wide testing accommodations for Regents, Midterms, and finals. The department head checks for IEP alignment with student schedules and provides input on the Master Schedule. The department head visits classrooms to ensure the integrity of the curriculum and the delivery of instruction. The department head serves as a liaison to site and district administration.
